With over 20 years of experience as a complex trauma therapist , my natural instinct is to help those in need.
About me, Jill Maher
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (she/her/hers) in California, Pennsylvania and Virginia, I have been working with individuals and families impacted by trauma for 20 years. My focus and interest in trauma work began when I was a counselor at a domestic violence / sexual assault crisis agency in Sacramento in 2005.
I have an extensive background in trauma and mental health in a multitude of roles, including as an advocate, therapist, clinical supervisor, and program director for survivors of trauma.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and about you. Through empathy, openness, and curiosity, I provide a safe space to support you and your goals in your journey. I practice EMDR therapy to help people heal from trauma and distressing life events. Additionally, I utilize CBT and DBT approaches where we can address how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact our responses in relationships and situations.
I am a California native and after spending 12 years in the Bay Area, I moved to San Diego to further build my career and life balance with my partner and two children. Practicing locally in the San Diego area since 2018, I am excited to offer the same level of dedication to this beautiful community,.
